Sticky Tapes release 1st Birthday Compilation FT. Jossy Mitsu, Stones Taro, Black Cadmium, ELLES + more

By Balamii

Fresh off the release of the fifth instalment of their cassette mix series with Bristol’s Om Unit, Sticky Tapes presents their first compilation. The release is a celebration of one year of the project and features eleven original tracks from Jossy Mitsu, Stones Taro, ELLES, Black Cadmium, Cyphon, Maya Q, LUXE, Caitlin Medcalf, Macaulay Sulkin, Skin Teeth and Theo Everyday, with all proceeds going to Samaritans.

Sticky Tapes launched their first tape back in July 2020 with Violet and ELLES and since then have released tapes with the likes Interplanetary Criminal, CC:DISCO!, Asquith, Om Unit and many more. To date they’ve raised over £1500 for five different charities, all chosen by the artists on the tapes.

Samaritans is a charity aimed at providing emotional support to anyone in emotional distress, struggling to cope, or at risk of suicide throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. Their work is particularly important at the moment with the impact of the Ppndemic on mental health. The compilation delivers a broad sound palette, from leftfield jungle cuts from Black Cadmium to soothing electronica from ELLES. House, garage, breaks and downtempo sounds from the offset.

Echoing classic dance music compilations from the likes of Ministry Of Sound and Cream, Sticky Tapes called upon London based selector and Balamii resident, Amaliah, to mix the tracks and breathe new energy into the compilation as a whole. This mix exclusively features on the cassette that will be available to buy on June 4th.
